Travel Information

 

By bus: Lyon has a sophisticated subway, tram and bus transportation system. The Lyon subway is modern and safe. In the rush hours trains run every 2-5 minutes, and during off-peak hours at least every 10-15 minutes. The railway stations are located downtown and the airport is connected to the city center by a modern tramway (opened in august 2010). Participating to the 51st ETPFGM will definitely not require renting a car!


The conference venue (Charpennes railway station) is served by Subway line MA that connects with Part-Dieu railway station in 10 minutes. It is also served by Tramway T1
that connects with Part-Dieu railway station in 10 minutes.
You can visit the TCL website to get more information about the public transportation system, to download the transportation map, to check the time schedules, etc.


By TGV (high speed train):
The conference venue (Charpennes railway station) is 10 minutes from Part-Dieu TGV station. TGV trains run between Lyon and Paris every hour or every half hour during peak-time. Lyon-Paris (downtown or Paris Charles de Gaulle airport: 2h, Lyon-Marseille: 1h35, Lyon-Geneva (Switzerland): 1h50, Lyon-Brussel (Belgium): 3h50. Online ticket booking is possible on the SNCF website.


By road: By way of example, Lyon is 1h30 from Geneva, 3h from Turin, 4h from Paris, 4h30 from Milan, 5h from Barcelona... The GPS reference of the conference venue is:
N 45° 46' 14.24'' E 4° 51' 46.60''. GPS address is "7, place Charles Hernu, 69100 Villeurbanne, France".


By air
: Lyon-Saint-Exupéry is the French airport with the largest number of routes outside Paris, with 27 French towns and cities connected by daily scheduled flights, 43 scheduled international routes, 19 charter routes and 7 cargo routes (winter programme).
The conference venue (Charpennes railway station) is 25 minutes from the airport and Lyon-Saint Exupéry multimodal station.
